Federal Trade Commission, FTC
The Federal Trade Commission enforces numerous U.S. antitrust and consumer protection laws. Its charter is to ensure that our nation's markets function competitively and are efficient and free from undue restrictions or restraints.
The FTC protects the U.S. marketplace by eliminating acts or practices that are deemed unfair or deceptive. In general, the Commission's efforts are directed at preventing or stopping actions that threaten consumers' opportunities to exercise informed choice.
The FTC also performs economic analysis to support its law enforcement efforts and to contribute to the U.S. business and consumer policy deliberations of Federal, state and local governments.
