Search Engine Spamming
Anything deliberate to unethically influence search engine rankings, often for pages which contain little or no relevant content. It’s how certain sites are able to displace or oust legitimate search results with their own pages.
Search engine spamming includes hidden text, overuse or over-repeating of keywords (dozens or hundreds of the same word on a page), over submission of pages to the search engines, web page cloaking, mirroring a site and stealing its ranking by substituting the mirrored site (which redirects to the thief’s page) for the real site, etc.
