E-mail advertising that is sent to people without their permission or consent. Also referred to as spam, especially if the offer is not targeted to your specific interests. For example, nearly every adult in the U.S. (with an e-mail address) receives offers for home mortgages in their junk e-mail box even though the vast majority is not in the market for a mortgage.
